Wszędzie dobrze, ale w domu najlepiej? Komedia „Arab Blues” przypomina, że powroty w rodzinne strony nie zawsze bywają łatwe. Tak jest w przypadku wychowanej we Francji Selmy, która postanawia wrócić do Tunezji, aby otworzyć gabinet psychoanalityczny. Na miejscu okazuje się jednak, że nie tylko nikt tam na nią nie czeka, ale jej zawód i styl życia nawet najbliższym krewnym wydają się cokolwiek podejrzane. Kulturowe różnice generują serię pomyłek i nieporozumień, które debiutująca reżyserka Manele Labidi ze swadą rozbraja humorem.

Is there really no place like home? The “Arab Blues” comedy reminds us that returning to the family environment is not always easy. This is the case with Selma, brought up in France, who decides to return to Tunisia to open a psychoanalytical office. However, it turns out that not only there is no one there waiting for her, but her profession and lifestyle seem suspicious even to her closest relatives. Cultural differences generate a series of mistakes and misunderstandings, which the debuting director Manele Labidi comments with a dose of humor.

Urodzona w 1982 roku reżyserka i scenarzystka tunezyjskiego i francuskiego pochodzenia. Studiowała politologię oraz ekonomię, przez lata pracowała w finansach. W 2016 roku ukończyła prestiżowy program scenariopisarski w szkole filmowej La Fémis w Paryżu, by potem całkowicie poświęcić się kinematografii. „Arab Blues” to jej pełnometrażowy debiut.
Born in 1982, a director and writer of Tunisian and French origin. She studied political science and economics, for years she worked in finance. In 2016 she graduated from the prestigious screenwriting program at the La Fémis film school in Paris, and then devoted herself entirely to cinematography. “Arab Blues” is her feature film debut.
