Krótki film o miłości, słodko-gorzki jak uwielbiana przez Finów lukrecja. Dwoje samotnych ludzi spotyka się, gubi, walczy z nałogiem, stara się przetrwać. W tle słychać smutne piosenki i dramatyczne wiadomości z Ukrainy, a świat nie zwraca na bohaterów najmniejszej uwagi – może poza równie samotnym psem i kultowym już reżyserem Akim Kaurismäkim, który wciąż jeszcze wydaje się wierzyć w piękno, w kino oraz w to, że ludzie mogą się nawzajem ocalić.

A short film about love, as bittersweet as Finland’s beloved licorice. Two lonely people meet, get lost, fight addiction, try to survive. Sad songs and dramatic news from Ukraine can be heard in the background, and the world doesn’t pay the slightest attention to the characters – except perhaps for an equally lonely dog and the now-iconic director Aki Kaurismäki, who still seems to believe in beauty, cinema and that people can save each other.

Urodzony w 1957 roku w fińskim mieście Orimattila. Reżyser, scenarzysta i montażysta filmowy. Wraz z bratem, Miką Kaurismäkim, założył firmę producencko-dystrybucyjną Vilealfa. Jako reżyser wypracował unikalny styl opierający się na absurdalnym poczuciu humoru, minimalistycznym aktorstwie i chaplinowskiej sympatii do outsiderów szukających swego miejsca w niegościnnym świecie. Od samego początku rozpoczętej w latach osiemdziesiątych kariery pracuje na status ulubieńca światowych festiwali, który ma na swoim koncie laury przyznane m.in. w Cannes i Berlinie.

Born in 1957 in Orimattila, Finland. He is a film director, screenwriter and editor. Together with his brother, Mika Kaurismäki, he founded the production and distribution company Vilealfa. As a director, he has developed a unique style based on absurdist humor, minimalist acting, and a Chaplin-esque affection for outsiders seeking their place in an inhospitable world. Since the beginning of his career in the eighties, he has worked his way up to the status of a favorite of world festivals, with laurels in Cannes and Berlin, among others.
